Each wall piece is one of a kind, created through a combination of my passion for nature and my love of metalwork. After cutting the copper shapes and preparing the surface, I carefully apply the 24k gold leaf using traditional gilding techniques. Once the gilding has set for 24-48 hours, I use my torch to create the color. Copper reacts to heat by changing color, but gold is non-reactive. It is very easy to overheat the piece and ruin it at this point, but the successful results are incredible! I love the knife's edge of succss and disaster that this process holds.

Once the piece is finsihed, I seal it with lacquer to protect the gold and the patina. I do my own framing, using a deep brown mat and a bronze colored frame.
